A series of videos that summarize business books has been designed by New York-based Board Studios in 4 minutes for all you procrastinators, or for those who need a refresher. In them, while a narrator offers the gist of books like Holacracy, Elon Musk and Thiel’s Zero to One, an artist’s hands are seen taking notes.
A founder of Board Studios, Kostas Papakonstantinou, says that “Many entrepreneurs have productivity issues. I was reading a lot of business books and was not able to get what I wanted out of them. As a service, it is something I wanted to have, and we wanted to ensure we were delivering it to others.”
Papakonstantinou says, the benefit of Board’s videos is that he wrote the summaries, and he knows what details are important to entrepreneurs, when he is founded a handful of businesses. These are not only useful to entrepreneurs and those who aspire to become on the videos serve as great content marketing for Board Studios, which provides video content for businesses.
He says “we get our brand out there. Many people love these videos, when you look at the YouTube comments, we send it to CEOs we want to begin conversations with, [which has] resulted in business.” In revenue for Board Studios, he estimates the videos have led to about $100,000. Also he adds “it is something that is very encouraging for us.” But he says, for the series the company has not yet figured out the right financial model.
Moreover, Papakonstantinou use the time to read the books and write scripts based on his notes, that to produce video, it takes about 2 weeks according to his estimate. The 4 minutes of video encompasses 8 painstaking hours of the artist drawing slowly, careful to avoid any mistakes.
